My StoryMemories I carry on in my heart and my art are the memories I had with my grandparents on their farm.
My grandmother taught me compassion, patience and love for all of Mother Nature and mankind. All I ever wanted to do as a child is sit with the animals outside in the tall grass and draw portraits of them.
The encouragement of the arts came from my mom. She knew how much I loved it and that I was good at it. She could see how it brought peace to my soul like know other activity could.
Photography became my passion in my high school Commercial art classes. I loved the interaction with others and the joy it brought them to see how I captured the image of who they really were.
I have had many mentors in my life, some photographers, some not. What I have learned I hope to give back to the next and give inspiration to other artists of the future.
The name “Portraits by Dawn” came about because of the love I have for painting and drawing. My first painted portrait was of a boy friends dog that passed and a painted portrait of my Aunt Virginia who has recently passed. These paintings have hung on their walls for over 35 years and are now being passed down through the generations of their families. Technology has allowed my work to come full circle and I can now finish the artistic touches on your photographic portrait piece.
This is my gift to families all around the country and in Southern California.
